The best coffee shops to study in near me: Glasgow city centre

When wanting a change of scenery for studying, I often take myself out to get a coffee at a nearby coffee shop and work there. I feel so much more productive if I take myself out with the intention to get work done. I know the struggle of finding the right place to go, as every place has a different vibe and some coffee shops are more study-friendly than others. I thought I’d put together a small set of recommendations of my favourite coffee shops in Glasgow City Centre.

I’m thinking of making this a series, where I give coffee shop recommendations from around Glasgow, and anywhere else I visit. Let me know if that is something you would be interested in within the comments section. Today’s post is focussed on Glasgow City Centre:

1)     Roasters

Located on the bottom floor of the brand-new Strathclyde Students’ Union (At 51 Richmond Street), Roasters is a great place to either study alone or study with friends. I have found the coffee there amazing and affordable. They have also recently started doing pumpkin spice lattes so that’s a win in my eyes!

Seating goes fast here, I have found it is usually busiest around mid-day, so for a quieter study environment I’d recommend going later in the afternoon.

2)     Canteen 58

Canteen 58 is located at the top of Ingram Street and serves coffee, food and alcohol. The interior is very aesthetic! You will find plants everywhere and plenty seating too. There’s also an outdoor seating area which can be used if it is sunny. I like to sit downstairs usually, as I have found this to be the quietest place, and often only a couple of other people are sat there during the day.

3)     I-Café

I-Café is a great place to study, it’s got great coffee and fast wifi- plus its right next to the Strathclyde campus, what more could you want? I have found it especially good to do group study sessions there. It is full of other students and people working, making it a productive environment to work in. Also serving food, I café is meant to be a great place to get some lunch too! There’s lots of plug sockets around and you can also request to use I-café’s printing services.
